The Full Heart Kids Carnival, a fundraiser to support the “A Soldier’s Hands” initiative, was held May 6th in Yardley. The carnival generated donations and profits for the project of almost $2000.

The Full Heart Kids Carnival is unique in that it was created by a 7th grade girl. Casey Schaeffer, a student at Charles Boehm Middle School, started her charity, Full Heart, to promote community involvement by kids, and to help raise funds which could be donated to other organizations. She met neighbor Trish Shallenberger, founder of “A Soldiers Hands”, an organization that provides skincare products to soldier overseas, and Casey organized the carnival to support that cause.

Casey made personal appeals to the community for support. The Yardley-Morrisville Rotary Club was among the local civic organizations and businesses that joined in the effort. Other local sponsors included Onur Marble & Granite, Yardley Lions Club, Edgewood Dental, VFW Post 6393, American Legion Post 317, Paul Davis Restoration, The Fegley Law Firm, Widener Construction, Sellersville Theater, Shop Rite of Yardley and Giant Food Stores (Yardley PA).

On May 5th, Casey and Trish (shown in photo) were interviewed on NBC-TV by Tracy Davidson, which furthered their cause in the community even more.

Kids entertainment at the carnival included pony rides by Keona Farm, a Mickey Mouse bounce house by Bounce with Us, and Boomer the Trenton Thunder mascot. Four the Paws cat rescue group was also invited to promote their services.
